The 1888-S Liberty Gold Half Eagle $5 Coin is a rare and valuable piece of United States coinage history.

Minted in San Francisco, this gold coin is graded XF45 by NGC.

PCGS on its website states for the 1888-S: "As the auction data shows, however, it is not at all common and is actually very scarce in all grades and surprisingly rare in strictly uncirculated condition. I have seen only a few mint state pieces and consider this date to be very rare and undervalued."

There is some scratching on the reverse slab label, as shown on a few of the reverse photos, where the Heritage Auction sticker was removed to sell this coin to you. I originally bought this coin from Heritage Auctions years ago.

I took lots of pictures to give you as many views as possible with different lighting conditions.
