1974 Hoffman Mr Fiddler Mr Lucky Series Whiskey Decanter &
Music Box
The history of Irish fiddlers is deeply intertwined with the
evolution of traditional Irish music, dating back centuries. While the violin,
from which the fiddle is derived, arrived in Ireland around the 17th century,
its journey from an instrument of the upper class to a mainstay of folk music
is a fascinating story of adaptation and regional styles. Key figures like
Michael Coleman and James Morrison helped popularize Irish fiddle music,
particularly in the United States, through recordings and performances in the
1920s.
The Hoffman Distilling Company, originally established in 1880 by
S.O. Hackley and later partnered with Ike Hoffman, was a significant bourbon
producer in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. After facing closure during Prohibition,
the distillery was rebuilt and became the home of the popular Ezra Brooks
brand. In 1979, the Hoffman Distillery was shut down and with the shutdown was
the end of the Hoffman Bourbon brand.
Music Box still works and plays “Hearts and Flowers” tune.
