The Australian one-dollar note was introduced in 1966 as part of decimalization, replacing the 10-shilling note.It remained in circulation until 1984 when it was replaced by the one-dollar coin. This bill was issues in 1976.
The note was designed by Gordon Andrews.
The front of the note, as seen in the image, features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in her Garter robes and the Australian coat of arms.
The reverse side of the note featured Aboriginal contemporary art by David Malangi, depicting the "mortuary feast" of Gunmirringu, an ancestral hunter.
Although no longer printed, all previous notes of the Australian dollar, including this one, are still considered legal tender.
