Description:
A complete 1961 Congo post-independence commemorative set on airmail cover, comprising the 10c, 20c, 40c, 50c, 1F, 1.50F, 2F, 5F and 10F values. The stamps are multicoloured and depict national political portrait designs associated with the first anniversary of independence and the opening of parliament. Each value is perforated and tied to the cover by special circular Leopoldville commemorative cancellations dated July 1961. The stamps appear generally sound and fresh as affixed, with intact perforations visible, while the envelope itself shows normal postal handling, folds and creasing. A desirable complete-set usage on contemporary airmail cover rather than loose used singles.
