SONY Handycam DCR-DVD205E Digital Video Camera Recorder 800x DigitalZoom

When I try to charge the battery, the light will switch from green to red throughout. I left it on charge for a couple of hours doing this. When I then try the battery, the camera turns on briefly and then loses power.

Maybe just a faulty battery??
