This is a beautiful Antique Chinese Red Carnelian Pendant necklace, circa 1920's and it's in excellent condition. The pendant is carved with a rare "Treasure Vomiting Mongoose", which in Chinese & Tibetan lore, is a sacred emblem of infinite generosity, abundance and compassion. To understand this creature, is to glimpse a unique view of wealth, not as a possession, but as the constant, joyful act of giving. The mongoose is on top and there are two large coins depicted in the center above swirling clouds The chain and hardware are gold-filled (no metal stamps) with dark warm red enamel. It slides over the head as there is no clasp. The six carnelian beads are matched for color and are hand carved with the Shou (longevity) symbol. The chain part measures 24"around and the pendant section is 2.5" long. 36g total weight. The pendant measures 1.75" x 1.5" x 1/8-3/16" (thicker on one side). This is a rare and lovely piece.
