AI Overview
This document is a vintage advertisement for Thomson's Coupling for Broken Shafts, a patented device from the 1880s designed for repairing broken ship propeller shafts at sea.
The coupling is made of cast steel segments that bolt together to secure broken shafts without keys or set screws.
It allows ships to proceed to their destination by quickly repairing broken shafts, even if they are entirely separated.
The device is designed to be installed by engineers in a few hours without needing any custom fitting.
