Comments: This record was fully play tested after it was cleaned. I clean 78s with dish-soapy water and a record cleaning sponge. This cleaning method removes the easiest to get to dust and marks, and usually improves sound quality. In some cases, stubborn marks / soiling may be left behind for the buyer to address with a more detailed cleaning if desired.
Record Condition (For the Eyes): The VJM grade is E+. The disc is highly glossy with light surface scuffs - more so on "Soldier" side than on "Roses" side. A slight, loose warp can be seen while the record spins, but it has no noticeable effect on play (see the video). Surface glossiness tends to hide the lighter surface scuffs in my photos.
Record Condition (For the Ears): Plays with no skips or sticks, of course. General background record surface noise is minimal on the "Roses" side and very mild on the "Soldier" side. Just a few light ticks are heard. This record plays with superior sound quality and pleasing tone, making the listen quite enjoyable. (I play-test on a Newcomb school-style phonograph with a 3 mil stylus.)
Sound Sample: There is a sound sample video in the photos section with about a minute of each side represented. It is a major part of the description of this record. Crank up the volume for best results! If you hear static-click sounds when the view changes in the video, it is most likely from my phone microphone reacting to the movement and not in the music.
Labels Condition: The labels are beautiful with very mild wear. There is no writing on the labels. The label text is easy to read and the graphics look great.
Sleeve Type and Condition: Housed in a Columbia Records company sleeve that is in VG condition. There are the typical light wrinkles/light creases outside of the record impression area. There is no writing on the sleeve. There are several small tears on edges. There is a one-inch split at the center of the bottom seam. The record will be shipped outside of this sleeve in a separate kraft-paper sleeve for maximum safety.
Please see the photos for more info and a look at condition. Use your zoom-in powers for a real close look.
Shipping Notes: I'm an expert record packer, if I do say so myself! Rest assured that I know what I'm doing when it comes to packing shellac records for safe shipping.
