Antique George V 1913 Sterling Silver Ring/Trinket Box Silk Lined

This antique hallmarked sterling silver lidded ring or trinket box is in very good condition

with no dings or other damage. It stands on three little pad feet and has a hinged domed

lid embossed with harebell swag and bee decoration.The lid with gilt interior fits tightly.

The box is beautifully lined in silk and doesn't appear to have had much use. 

There is a full hallmark, unfortunately rubbed, on the side of the box, and a partial

hallmark on the inside of the lid. Taken together, the box can be dated to Birmingham

1913, putting it in the reign of George V and only one year before the outbreak of WW1.

The maker's initial (capital Z), indicate it was produced by A&J Zimmerman Ltd. It stands

4.2cm (1 5/8in) tall, is 7cm (2 3/4in) in diameter across the lid, and weighs 73gm ( just

over 2 1/2oz). A lovely antique ring or trinket box.
