Up for auction is a complete, mint/unused Lionel FARR #4Southern Freight set I bought new on February 4, 1987.  The engine was tested off the track using leads when it was purchased.  The engine,tender and cars have never been run on a track. I displayed the set in an enclosed case for many years.

The entire set is as it was shipped by the factory to the distributor.  The original Lionel engines shipping carton is included with this purchase.

#8309 - Southern Mikado 2-8-2 Steam Engine with tender – Features include electronic whistle, puffing smoke, die cast trucks, Magnetraction ™, Mightysound of steam, working headlight, Pulmor motor and forward/neutral/ reverse controlled from transformer.

For safety, I am packing the set in the original boxes inside the original Lionel box shipping carton and then inside another shipping carton.

Note: Before you bid, please view the photos carefully as they are part of the description.  I have described set as mint since the set was never used. If the buyer decides to run the engine it will probably need to be oiled since it has been sitting in a display case for decades. The boxes show several small rub marks, if the box condition is more important than the condition of the actual train then do not purchase this set.
