large size and well built with a thick robust blade

sold to GIs at army / marine corps bases
The blade shows minor signs oxidation & light sharpening marks
these were sold at the numerous United States military bases

‘ post exchange ‘
( or PX )
these knives were also picked up when US Soldiers were on ‘ R&R ‘ ( rest and recreation ) in Japan ….
These were widely Available to American GI’s army / navy & the marine corps during the Viet nam war era
mid - late 1960s
The blade is marked ‘ K.I.P. ‘
And ‘ Japan ‘
( it is double marked Japan ,
on both sides of the blade , as usual with this manufacturer)
( KIP was a well known supplier to the Japanese defense forces
And available at American army / Air Force / USMC / USN bases
-post exchanges around the world )
It Comes with the original leather sheath
and has the Standard WWII style stacked leather grip / hilt
The knife is in good condition

it comes with a Decent condition , unique KIP mfg scabbard ,
very similar to the WWII USGI leather sheath ,… but made with thinner leather
smooth clean light brown leather ,
not a stained , flexed or worn out
about as nice as you will ever find one of these scarce KIP mfg knives
The Bowie style clipped point Blade measures approx 7” long
the over all length in the sheath is about 14 “ long
these PX knifes are getting hard to find !
