It is perhaps best to start this listing by noting that 19th century autograph collectors appear to have taken great pride in destroying historically important documents and preserving just the signatures. Thus, we have this 8 x 1.5” remnant of a letter from important United States Senator and later Governor Silas Wright to new main governor John Fairfield. In the portion that has been preserved, the author references someone who has been paid much beyond his value, which has spoiled him. It would be lovely to have the rest of the letter as surely, there’s more information about this little known war and it’s participants. Alas, all we have is this last line and the signature. Still, a nice strong signature from a early US senator and governor. Some foxing.Buyer to pay $9.95 insured to shipping within the US or less than 1 pound priority international.
