We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks.
This is a good example of a Mecochirus Lobster from the famous Jurassic Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This distinct lobster exhibits its two long arms in fine fashon. The classic fossil contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored limestone. The ancient arthropod is well displayed on the large, natural-edged plate of lithographic limestone. This is a good "bang-for-the-buck" specimen of a fossil lobster from the Butterfield Collection.
