This is a very rare trilobite fossil. It is an Eccaparadoxides bennetti hypostoma (mouthplate) from Newfoundland, Canada. This specimen was found in 1988 by Steve Hess while collecting there with Riccardo Levi-Setti. This distinct fossil has excellent detail preserved. The hypostoma is fully inflated and well defined. There is also a counterpart of a Ctenocephalus cephalon preserved above the mouthplate. This is a very uncommon trilobite fossil from the wilds of Newfoundland.
