Stunning & incredibly rare color painting by Warren Kremer.

Original Harvey color pieces are all but impossible to find, though Kremer color roughs of proposed covers do show up on occasion.

But finished, full color, camera-ready art painted & assembled by Harvey master Warren Kremer?

All but non-existent.

As was standard practice, Harvey asked that this beautiful art folder be returned to Harvey's offices in New York City after being shot (art like this was usually kept, and more often destroyed, after the art was photographed by the licensing entity), and in this case, it was!

One of only a handful of surviving Harvey color originals, this piece has been in a private collection for almost two decades, and was mis-identified at its last public offering as created by a Saalfield staff artist rather than Kremer freelancing for Harvey.

As you know, Harvey artists are frequently identified improperly (the bane of the Harvey art collector), but Alfred & Leon (like Disney & Hanna-Barbera) were VERY careful about licensed art conforming to the high standards set by artists like Muffatti & his protege Kremer, and called on the latter extensively to keep their characters on-model and their brand at the peak of quality when licensed!

Featuring a stunning full color gouache, color ink & color pencil rendering of Huey painting a bowl of fruit he wasn't quite able to resist sampling, this piece is simply incredible, with colors so vibrant the painting still looks wet!

The painting of Huey is on thick art board, and a lovely multi-layered, hand-made folder with Harvey label, copyright stamp, multiple overlays & Tan cover has been constructed around it.

The first of the two vellum overlays (with only a "Parent's Magazine" badge/ribbon on it) has some tears at the top, but the second vellum overlay (a color guide and key) is in fine shape, as is the acetate overlay with the Baby Huey title logo, and the color painting itself.

Folder and painting/overlays are 11.5" x 14" in size.

An absolutely stunning piece created in 1966 (Harvey's magical 25th anniversary year), and likely to be the only one of its kind you will EVER find!
