For sale is my 1962 Vauxhall Cresta PA Gasser
Originally built by Chris Meek in the 70’s and featured in Street Machine magazine in February 1983.
I’ve owned this for 4 years now, it was originally built with a jaguar v12 engine & box but it needed a complete rebuild so I have since fitted a 3.5 rover v8 from an SD1 with a borg warner 65 3 speed automatic gearbox.
A quick run down as it sits:
Custom made chassis
One piece fibreglass front end
3.5 rover from an SD1
Borg warner 65 3 speed automatic
Fully re-wired with a down to earth 12 circuit kit
B&M shifter
Shortened transit front axle, steering box & column
Custom propshaft
Jaguar IRS with powerlock diff
Genuine 70’s Centrelines with new tyes
Half cage
Corbeau bucket seats
The paint is 40 years old and has gone flat whilst it’s been stood outside, it would probably polish up with some time spent on it. The paint has also started cracking on the fibreglass front.
The body has been patched and welded in various places during its life, it’s recently had new sills and some sections of the floor replaced to make it 99% solid. There is some rust in the doors, the chassis is completely solid.
It is currently a running and driving project that requires some finishing before it can be used properly. I have driven it on the road however there is a small pin hole in the rover P6 radiator so this will need repairing before any long journeys. Other jobs that need doing are:
Exhaust system, currently just has downpipes fitted so it is very loud
Speedo cable needs fitting
Tachometer needs fitting
Voltmeter needs fitting
Harnesses need fitting
Front pads getting low
Numberplate light needs wiring up
Coolant catch tank needs fitting
Wipers need wiring up
Coolant catch tank missing
Washer bottle & pump missing
Overall this is a rare chance to own a piece of hot rodding history that wouldn’t take much to make it 100%. Current V5 with nice reg. Located near Banbury OX15
