1927 Georgia, Florida & Alabama (GF&A) Railway Annual Pass – Rare Short Line
This is an original, unpunched 1927 annual pass for the Georgia, Florida & Alabama Railway. Known colloquially as the "Gopher, Frog & Alligator," this 190-mile short line ran from Richland, Georgia, down to the Florida Gulf Coast at Carrabelle.
Historical Significance:
The "Sumatra Leaf" Route: The GF&A was famous for hauling shade-grown tobacco and timber. Because it was a small regional road, its executive-level passes were printed in very low quantities compared to the major carriers.
Pre-Lease Rarity: 1927 was the final year of independent operation before the road was absorbed into the Seaboard Air Line (SAL) system. Collectors prize these "end-of-an-era" passes.
Executive Provenance: Issued to J.A. Kaufmann, Chief Clerk to the General Superintendent, Seaboard Air Line. This was a high-level professional courtesy pass that allowed him to coordinate traffic between the two interconnected lines.
