1927 Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac (RF&P) Annual Pass – Executive Issue

This is an original, unpunched 1927 annual pass for the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad. Known as the "Bridge Line," the RF&P was the essential link between the Seaboard Air Line (SAL) and the Pennsylvania Railroad, making its passes a staple in any serious Southern rail collection.

Historical Significance:

• The Strategic Link: The RF&P was one of the most prosperous railroads in America. By 1927, it had completed its massive double-tracking project, allowing the Orange Blossom Special to fly through the Virginia corridor on its way to Florida.

• The "Bridge Line" Rarity: Because the RF&P was a short-mileage "connector" road, they issued far fewer executive passes than the major transcontinental lines.

• Executive Provenance: Issued to J.A. Kaufmann, Chief Clerk to the General Superintendent of the Seaboard Air Line (SAL). This pass was an essential "exchange" credential that allowed Kaufmann to manage the flow of Seaboard traffic into the Washington, D.C. gateway.
