Fargesia dracocephala ‘Rufa’

Common name:  Sunset glow , vigorous non-running bamboo.

We love this clumping bamboo (non-running) here at the nursery. It is a vigorous and hardy grower.  If you were to have only one bamboo plant, this might be it. It’s extremely hardy to -10º f to -20º f and it takes full sun too. We can get over 100º f for many days straight in the summer. It will probably need shelter in the South from hot sun especially if you have high humidity too. Purple red sheaths on new culms. Very vigorous, rapid growth and cold hardy. Dense, slightly weeping habit. Wind tolerant.  Prefers organic soils with good drainage. Thrives in sun and also tolerates shade.

The last photo is an example of a #1 Fargesia 'Rufa', however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive.  It is grown in a #1, 1 gallon, size pot which is removed and your plant is shrink wrapped in plastic for shipping purposes.
