Rare Original c.1967 Andy Warhol **** (Four Stars) c.1967 Vintage Poster

This original poster produced around 1967 comes directly from the estate of Andy Warhol. It advertises the screening of a ninety-minute segment from Warhol's epic 25-hour film **** (Four Stars) at the University of St. Thomas, followed by a discussion that included Warhol, Paul Morrissey, and Viva. Rarely shown in its entirety, the film is projected by superimposing two reels on top of one another, pushing our understanding of the linear experience of time. Starting in 1963, film became a fixture of Warhol's prolific practice resulting in his production of hundreds of movies, and establishing him as one of the most influential, avant-garde filmmakers of his generation. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a rare, out-of-print poster from Warhol’s personal collection.

Proceeds directly benefit the non-profit charitable organization he founded with the mission to advance the visual arts. Since its inception in 1987, The Andy Warhol Foundation has been a stalwart advocate for freedom of expression, supporting work that is experimental and challenging in nature and from communities that have been historically marginalized.
