The product is a vintage hardcover book titled "Marion County in the Making". It is an original first edition published in 1917 in Baltimore, Maryland. The book, measuring 8.5 x 6 inches, contains 362 pages and is illustrated with drawings and photographs. The book was written by the members of the 1916 Senior Graduating Class of Fairmont High School.  James Otis Watson, is identified as the Sponsor and publisher of the book, written under the diirection of Dora Lee Newman, Head of the History Depatment at Fairmont High School.  A roster of 1916 class members is included and shown in the photos.  The book has the seal of the State of West Viriginia on the back cover.  See photos, including table of contents.  A very professionally done history.  

James Otis Watson was a prominent farmer, cattle dealer, and industrialist who founded a coal mine in Fairmont WV.  He died in 1902.  His sponsorship of this book may be a part of his legacy.

Former owner's signature on the first free end paper.  Signed Robert H. Quenon, who grew up in Fairmont WV.   In 1978 he became CEO of Peabody Energy, which operated the largest coal company in the world.  He was married to the Mayor of Ladue Missouri.  This book was obtained at her estate sale.
