A lovely pair of vintage lamp bases depicting cherubs after François-Camille Duru.
They appear to be made of bakelite with a gloss finish.
The figures depict the personifications of Autumn and Spring. They are draped in veils with grape and leaf garlands, a common motif for the "Four Seasons". Similar pairs are often found as mid-century Italian-made statues. Figurines of this style were popular in the 19th and 20th centuries as decorative collectibles.
Although originally functioning as lamp bases we have enjoyed them in our home purely for their decorative appeal .
Measuring 10.5 inches tall standing on 14 inch round bases, this pair are in excellent vintage condition. Please review all photographs as an important part of the description.
