ORIGINAL RAKUSAN TSUCHIYA (1896-1976) '1937 WINTER CARD FROM MASAO SACHI SHUICHI AND TAMAKO MORIKAWA DOSHISHA UNIVERSITY KYOTO JAPAN' ARASHIYAMA WOODBLOCK PRINT & CARD 

This is a wonderful original.  I was lucky enough to purchase an incredible collection of original Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock prints from a prominent collection.  I bought the whole collection for one print for my personal collection and am offering the rest of them on ebay.  A really wonderful chance to acquire some incredible works by some of the most important Japanese Shin Hanga artists including Hasui, Yoshida, Koson and others.  This seems to be a particularly rare work by the artist.  I have found mentions of it on his website but no historical records I can find.  The card is separately printed and measures 7 x 4 3/4 inches with the embossed flower on the front.  Inside and loose is the original woodblock print.  Image measures 4 5/8 x 4 1/4 inches on complete original sheet measuring 5 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches.  Excellent as printed condition.  A very fine example of this scarce print.  The interesting part I am not sure about is my research indicates that this print was printed in 1937 and 1950.  The card is exactly the one that was done in 1937 according to the website but the woodblock itself seems more like the one that was printed in 1950.  The print was printed from the same exact wood blocks just with a bit more muted colors like this one.  Not exactly sure.  I am sure many collectors are much more knowledgeable than I will know exactly what I have here.  If you collect Tsuchiya, check my store for the other of his works I am also selling.  If you collect Hasui, Koson or other important Shin Hanga prints, check my store for the others I am offering.  An incredible chance to really add to your collection.  FREE SHIPPING ANYWHWERE IN THE UNITED STATES NO MATTER HOW MANY YOU PURCHASE!
