Daktarin Oral Gel | Sugar Free Gel | Oral Thrush | Fungal Mouth Gel | 15g
• Active Ingredient: Miconazole 2% w/w (20 mg per g)
• Indication: Used to treat oral thrush (candidosis) — fungal infections in the mouth, throat, and oropharynx.
• Formulation: White gel, sugar-free, with an orange flavour.
• How It Works: Miconazole disrupts the fungal cell membrane, killing the fungi (Candida) that cause the infection.
• Continue treatment for up to 7 days after symptoms clear to help prevent recurrence.
Do not take this medicine if:
- If you suffer from liver dysfunction
- If it is for an infant under 4 months of age
- If you take any of the following medicines: warfarin, cisapride,
simvastatin, lovastatin, tranquillisers (such as midazolam or triazolam), pimozide
and sertindol, bepridil, quinidine, and dofetilide and certain migraine drugs
such as ergot alkaloids.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking: oral
anticoagluants, HIV protease inhibitors, certain antineoplastic agents, certain
calcium channel blockers, certain medicines that act on the heart and blood
vessels, certain immunosuppressive agents, sulphonylureas, and other medicines
including carbamazepine, phenytoin, buspirone, alfentanil, sildenafil,
alprazolam, brotizolam, midazolam, rifabutin, methylprednisolone, trimetrexate,
ebastine, reboxetine.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant,
planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Infants and young children: Daktarin gel is sticky, it is
important to make sure that the gel does not close off the child’s or infant’s
throat as they could choke on it. You should place the gel at the front of the mouth,
NEVER at the back of the child’s throat.
- If you are breastfeeding, never apply to your nipple to
treat your baby.
- If the infant is 4-6 months old and is premature or has
slow development or problems swallowing, check with your GP before using this
medicine.
