The engine guard for the Honda TRANSALP 650 has been designed to protect the engine and the lower part of the frame from damage that may result from off-road use of the motorbike. It is a replacement for the original plastic guard, but is mounted in a slightly different way which, combined with the material used, provides very good protection for the engine.

The cowl is made of PA 11 aluminium sheet (AW-5754), a material characterised by high fatigue strength and high resistance to atmospheric corrosion, which is why it is used in the shipbuilding industry but also in the manufacture of tanks and structures. Its very good weldability means that the problem of cracking welds does not arise. The sheet metal used for the casing is 4 mm thick.

The cowl is bolted to the frame at four points, of which only the lower right-hand fastening coincides with that of the original cowl, the rest being made in such a way as to increase its rigidity; in addition, the lower mounting holes have been punched so that the bolt heads do not protrude and are not exposed to damage.

The front attachment of the cowl to the frame is designed so that it can be fitted together with the gmol, the longitudinal holes in the mounting brackets and the cowl provide the adjustment needed to take account of the attachment of the gmol. The cowl in this shape has been on sale since 2010 and there has not yet been a conflict with any gmol manufacturers' gmols.

The cowl is powder-coated, all screws and sleeves needed for mounting are included in the set.
