The Oriental Spruce ‘Skylands’ is a striking golden-needled conifer that brings year-round brilliance to gardens. This exceptional cultivar of Picea orientalis stands out with its bright yellow-gold new growth in spring, which maintains impressive colour through summer before deepening to chartreuse in winter.
‘Skylands’ forms a naturally pyramidal shape with elegant, tiered branches that sweep gracefully downward at their tips. The needles are particularly short and neat compared to other spruces, giving the tree a refined, almost formal appearance. Current size of 20/40cm represents a young specimen, perfect for establishing in gardens.
This conifer performs best in full sun, which enhances its golden colouration, though it will tolerate partial shade. Plant in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil.
