A vintage 9ct gold dress ring with a large oval facet cut amethyst gemstone. The bezel mount has a decorative border formed from tiny gold posts with open areas. The shoulder bifurcate with open spurs running around the underside of the mount. Inside the band it is simply marked 9CT for 9 carat gold and it also tests as such. The amethyst is quite a large size at approx 5 carats. It is of medium to light tone and mid saturation. The ring dates to the late 1970's/ early 80's
