Offered here is a dramatic off-center strike Lincoln cent featuring a bold misalignment of roughly 60%. The obverse shows “IN GOD WE T” and part of Lincoln’s bust, while most of the design is missing due to the planchet being struck far from center. The reverse likewise displays “ONE CEN”, with the rest of the coin blank from the striking error.
This is a genuine U.S. Mint error, not post-mint damage. The exposed unstruck copper area displays the original mint luster, making this an attractive piece for any error collector or type set. Off-center errors this far misaligned are increasingly sought after by serious numismatists.
