This 1979 US dollar coin features Susan B. Anthony on front. Minted in Philadelphia, there is a “P” to the left of her collar. The initials “FG” are found on the front, just above the star to the right of the date. FG stands for Frank Gasparro, the US mint chief engraver who designed the coin. On the back, the initials are located below the eagles tail feathers.

This coin is considered a “near date” coin, because the 1979 date on the front is too close to the bottom rim. The Philadelphia mint initially used a die with a wider rim which brought the date closer to the coins edge.

It’s very hard to properly photograph how lovely this coin is, it really is in beautiful condition, but I can tell it’s been circulated and there are some scratches on Susan‘s hair on the front .

However, I am not a coin dealer, so it is unrated and uncertified.
