DASKALAKIS ATHLETIC CENTER
The Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC) is the primary athletic facility for Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1975, the venue serves as the home court for the Drexel Dragons' basketball, wrestling, and swimming teams. It is named after John A. Daskalakis, a Drexel alumnus whose contributions helped fund facility improvements. The arena portion, often referred to as "The DAC," has a seating capacity of approximately 2,500, making it an intimate but formidable environment for opposing teams.
The basketball court has been the centerpiece of Drexel's athletics, hosting numerous memorable games, particularly in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Over the years, the DAC has seen the Dragons take on major rivals, including Delaware, Hofstra, and Northeastern, as well as thrilling non-conference matchups. The facility has undergone several renovations to enhance the fan experience, including upgraded seating, video boards, and locker rooms.
Beyond basketball, the DAC houses a natatorium, a wrestling center, and fitness facilities for Drexel students and athletes. The arena has also hosted various wrestling events, including conference championships. With its compact and raucous atmosphere, the Daskalakis Athletic Center remains a key part of Drexel’s athletic identity and a challenging venue for visiting teams.
