A beautiful chunk of a fossil coral geode from Georgia. This is a show piece. Photos don't do it justice. The botryoidal formations are composed of thick translucent amber agate coated with river minerals. It's so exciting to find a piece like this! You won't be disappointed. Outside shows the structure of the ancient coral. Photos taken dry. Excellent addition to a rock, mineral, or fossil collection or for research and education.
Approximate measurements are 6.5" x 6.5" x 3.5" and weight is 3 lbs 2 oz.
Georgia fossil coral is approx. 25-45 million years old, is around 7 on the Moh's scale, and is highly prized for jewelry and lapidary work.
I'm out there collecting and cutting these great rocks myself and blogging about it at zookeeperfossils. eBay sales help support my rockhounding habit.
