I have a set of the CAP dumbbells now. The neoprene makes for a better grip than bare cast iron. You don't have to worry about the dumbbell marring anything. You do have to be careful not to damage the neoprene, if a dumbbell were dropped on the floor or bumped into something with a sharp edge. Other than that they're good to go anywhere.
