Framed front page of the May 10 1940 EXTRA edition of the Detroit Free Press. The light-weight 12 by 18 hard plastic frame includes high-definition plexiglass and weighs slightly over a pound. The front page of the World War II paper was collected and preserved specifically for framing about fifty years ago, and finally framed only in 2025! Published the day of the German invasion of Western Europe, the dramatic headline announces the Nazi attacks on France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The newspaper includes pages 1 through 4, but is in fragile condition, particularly the middle crease. As the photo of page one in its entirety reveals, it is only suitable for framing. The main article on the German assault that began on page 1 was continued on a subsequent page, and the clipping (saved seemingly by the original owner of the paper) is included.
