thats right it is a C-2 Check out that serial number in first pic!
Notice in the other pics...the mushroom shutter release button, 10 screw hinge, uneven size of the tripod mount and rewind button...makes it sit slanty, rangefinder from 3 feet to 100 feet then infinity...shiny chrome shutter set lever, lens Argus 50mm F3.5 with 5 aperture setting..speed dial 5 to 300 all evenly spaced in black 10 in total..no flash hookup to be found, on back are 4 black leather stripes not one solid black back, if u look real close u will see on inside its a mold position #1, there are not patent or patent pending marks that can be found, all spools and spool holders are metal if u look inside the camera towards the palm leaf shutter u will see the grey shiny metal above the shutter,,its a early model indicator...u will also see on right hand side where u put your film there is a little hole ...that is filled with a bolt...that is the shutter set screw///on back do9or u will see two simple basic flat pins that hold and line up the film....and the small metal film press to heep the film straight in front of the shooting section...the rangefinder view is half yellow.
This all points specifically to 1939 but the biggest thing is simply the serial number.
this is a fine specimen for any collector..lens cap included.
ARGUS C-2 ARGUS C-2
This camera is 86 years old and still in terrific condition as well as working..shutter fires, it takes pictures...I have used it....It is a C2 not a computer..it takes pictures good if you learn how to use it properly....and it is fun...no flash just you and what ever light is aorund....obviously not for sport photography , although the streak of a person running by is kind of fun....easy to amke preplanned double exposures,,,use film ASA that is what was available then (slow stuff) black and white. Put other crap in it and you will be complaining what a crappy camera when in fact it is the person taking the pics.
Get a manual from butkus.org he is good guy and for a donation u can download a copy of the original manual.
The pictures from the book describing the camera (3 pics) are From The Book pictured I highly recommend anyone interested in an ARGUS CAMERA....owning or collecting, using buy it!!! Book info is in the last 2 pics
I a sorry to see this camera go....it was fun...but alas I can no longer do a lot of photography, and wife wants me to get rid of the several hundred cameras I have....So i get to sit on computer all day and type this stuff....
Hope you enjoy my camera and take good care of it.
