Important note regarding fitment with the TCR bonnet vent
This airbox has been designed for motorsport use, specifically to work in conjunction with the TCR bonnet vent, as you can see from the product pictures. However, it is important to note that the airbox may not fit if you have already fitted your TCR scoop, especially if it has been made to fit around other intakes. Our STX was designed to fit around the TCR scoop in the correct position, working with Area Motorsport and their race cars. If the vent has been fitted too far forward or backward, there is every chance the airbox will not fit without substantial trimming to your vent. As the placement of TCR vents is out of our hands, we will not accept any returns or issue any refunds as a consequence of the airbox not fitting in conjunction with a TCR vent.

Our SprogTech STX-EA8 Enclosed Intake kit has been designed specifically for the MQB EA888 Gen3 and Gen4 engines, such as the Mk7 & Mk8 Golf GTI. A great effort has gone into creating an intake kit without compromise, that meets a tough set of criteria for Motorsport. As a result of countless hours of design, development and testing, the STX-EA8 not only performs as well as some of the most popular kits on the market, but also works around the TCR bonnet vent (in the majority of cases), which is becoming increasingly popular on MQB track and race cars.
DESIGNED FOR MOTORSPORT
This airbox won’t appeal to every build, but it is very much catered to track-goers and race teams alike. The design makes use of every mm of space available, while critically keeping the area behind and on top of the cooling pack clear. The aim here is to make effective use of the TCR bonnet vent. Better cooling = a happy race car.
The fully enclosed design will ensure heat soak is completely minimised. In the case of the EA8-C (carbon), heat soak will be almost non-existent. This again is very important, especially for class A race cars where IATs and heat soak become an issue over the duration of a race.
PERFORMANCE WITH NO COMPROMISES
Despite being an enclosed system, every effort has been made to allow this airbox to flow all the air you could ever need on your track car. We have seen no loss in performance whatsoever, when equipping our 520hp Mk8 GTI CS track car with an STX-EA8 kit. In fact, the STX-EA8 performed better than almost any other intake kit on the market, when we conducted back-to-back dyno testing over at VAG specialist and Class B Enduro Champions, Jabba Sport.
A large Proram pleated air filter, an integral velocity stack, a massive 100mm inlet and some trick airflow manipulation allow this kit to perform as well as anything currently available. It’s the last 10% of design that you just don’t see in other products on the market, which is what takes the STX-EA8 to the next level, and resets the standard of design and engineering for intake systems.
PERFORMANCE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE
The STX-EA8 not only performs fantastically, but is very affordable, especially compared to other alternatives. We are very familiar with the intake market for this platform, selling our pick of some of the best options out there. When comparing the STX-EA8 to its competition, it comes in right at the cheaper end of the market. Without question, there is nothing that offers this level of performance for this money, especially when it comes to Carbon Fibre intakes.
Furthermore, the filter element is cost effective compared to other popular intakes, which can cost more than £100 just for a replacement filter element.
MADE IN THE UK
We pride ourselves on being completely self-sufficient when it comes to our products. The SprogTech STX EA8 is designed and manufactured entirely in-house, by us in the UK. Apart from the Ramair Proram filter element, no part of the STX-EA8 is made elsewhere, or bought in.
