I have for sale a 1931 bronze commemorative medal for the George Washington Bridge. The bridge was dedicated on October 24, 1931 and opened to traffic on October 25th. The medal is three inches in diameter and in a high grade circulated condition, see photos. The medalist was Julio Kilyeni and the medal was struck by the Whitehead and Hoag company. The obverse shows two females clasping hands over relief map of river and harbor. At the rim, it reads A MEMORIAL TO FRIENDLY COOPERATION BETWEEN STATES and NEW JERSEY - NEW YORK. The reverse shows the bridge, and it reads, GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE - BUILT AND OWNED BY -THE PORT OF NEW YORK AUTHORITY - DEDICATED 1931.
