Notes: First edition, Baker and Scribner 1847. Two volume set complete. Volume one has an engraved George Washington frontispiece. Volume two has an engraved General Nathaniel Green frontispiece. Occasional neat underlining in pencil. Volume two has a newspaper article glued inside the front cover from the New York Mirror, dated 1847, which is a review of the books. Chipping to spine crowns and feet of spines.
