Rare Antique Grimwades England Art Deco Black Cats Nursery Ware
Large Pottery Serving Bowl

Details
Height : 6.3cm
Diameter : 25.8cm
Weight : 605gm

This rare antique Grimwades large serving bowl is in very good condition for age
and use. There are no chips or cracks. There is very faint age induced crazing
which is to be expected. This is only visible from the back and only under strong
light and magnification. It does not affect the decorative appeal or use of the bowl.
The design is from the Grimwades 'Black Cats' series and features a Mother cat
watching as her two kittens try to retrieve something from a basket. There is a
frieze of black cats playing with a ball around the rim. There is a printed
backstamp on the base as well as an impressed number which is very difficult
to decipher, but which looks like 3-24. If this is a production date, it would
indicate that this bowl dates from March 1924. Great to add to any decorative
collection, or could be used as a fruit or serving bowl.
