CLA'd Carl Zeiss Jena Tele Tessar 25cm f/6.3 KineExa Rare Prewar Coll Lens Works
The lens has been in my collection for about 10 years and was actually one of my very first vintage camera lenses before I decided to put it up for sale. Very rare lens with primitive super early coating (if any) and many aperture blades (fully manual), produced in low quantities and probably more than half copies would be lost thru war and other things. It is a magnificent looking late 1930s Zeiss lens made of some light metallic alloy that shows literally no signs of material degradation. Attached to some beautiful Kine Exakta camera, this lens would be a stunner for display. I did use it on digital with adapter a number of times too but the performance was not too interesting in general (slow, average sharpness, lack of contrast) so I did not even keep or preserve any image samples to this day. I therefore rate it as collector's interest only but can guarantee the lens is fully functional and was even CLA'd years ago (relubed, deoiled, innerly cleansed glass elements).
Mentionable issues: there are light fungi spores around the inner front glass edges that are I believe attached to some sort of pins Zeiss put there as a part of construction, which keeps some oily residuum that might attract fungus. CLA did not help in this particular one but it is was not spreading for about 10 years and remained constant. So it very well might be some old residuum or thing "settled" between some glued elements (I have no idea about its optical scheme). Either way it is very marginal and hard to spot thing. Second, there is some sort of very light flicky transparent haze on the rear glass when examined under the lamp, which should be permanent too. This is not visible under a normal light at all. Third, outer front barrell is somewhat "nibbled" in one place, very likely after some fall in the past. To be maximally transparent, I marked all flaws I honestly found with red arrow under the item gallery (kindly see Fig. 2) and should be no matter of discussion after the purchase! I overall believe the lens condition is very good (in fact extremely good) for its age (!) and glasses otherwise have no seenable scratches or scuffs known to me.
This is a private sale with no returns or refunds, hence I describe anything imaginable I found or noticed to avoid controversy and possible misdescription. If something really stresses me, it is an eBay return from the other part of the planet! If you feel there is something I missed or did not mention please contact me before the purchase for possible answers.
