About Chitipati (Two skeletons)
The Chitipati is two skeletons, one is male and the other one is a female. They are represented with arms and legs interlaced, dancing on two corpse. Each holds a wang topped by a skull. One holds a skull cup and the other a vase. Sometimes both carries the same symbol. According to the Buddhist legend, the chitipati were two ascetics in their former existence. Once they were lost in a deep meditation, they did not notice that a thief had cut off their heads and thrown them in the dust. Since then they become ferocious enemies if the thief and had vowed eternal vengeance.
