Human figures, whether implied or not, are the direct objects of analysis in the works of Canadian artist John Clark. The exhibition presents several paintings from the years Clark spent in Halifax (1978 – 1983) as well as more recent canvases completed in Lethbridge, Alberta where he currently lives and works. Concerned with depicting “things as they are”, Clark attempts to achieve a balance between what he, as an artist, perceives on a conscious level and what he brings to work subconsciously. Organized and circulated by the Art Gallery of Windsor with funding assistance from the Canada Council.
