CWC G10 Navigator with RARE Tritium 'Desert Storm' date dial (est. 2004) - Serviced

This non-issued tritium dial navigator is extremely rare and very hard to find! Would suit a CWC collector. Has been sold out for many years unlike the non-date version which is more common. These Desert Storm T-Dial watches were never issued and according to internet history were made up by CWC for the MOD in the 90s but they rejected them so were made up into civilian G10 watches.

Case is in excellent condition except for some scratches on the case back from previous removal, and some damage to the battery cover hatch. Both lug bars are slightly bent, the lower one mainly, the bend is vertical. You don't notice it when the NATO strap is in place and it is on your wrist. The original movement had a defective circuit so my watchmaker installed a brand new ETA 955.112 in November 2022, which is the correct movement for the watch, and lubricated it. Case cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner and a new crystal fitted as well as new, lubed battery hatch and case back gaskets (left the original crown and crown gaskets in place). Watch may not be waterproof as the crown gaskets have not been replaced. The watch has been worn half a dozen times roughly since then & there is now a scratch on crystal above date window. There is a tiny scratch on the paint on the dial on the right side next to the tension ring (edge of the case), to the right of the date. No strap.

I include the original cracked crystal and the original gaskets, as well as receipts for the movement and the crystal.

The lug width is 19mm so would suit some sort of 19mm sand/desert coloured NATO strap (not included), or an 18 or 20mm if you like. The dial takes on a nice 'coffee' colour in sunlight, I have tried to capture it in one of the photos, so it changes personality depending on the light.

The dial dates back to the 90s and were made in small numbers in this colour and date configuration, exactly how many were made is not known. The 'WATERPROTECTED 5ATM/165FT' was used on the case backs on British military issued G10s in 2004 only. However, the non-issued ('civilian') watches with the 90s coloured navigator dials, such as this example, are believed to date from 2002 to 2004, and possibly earlier.

The phosphor in the tritium paint on the dial faintly glows when exposed to light, the hands less so. They have not been relumed.

Combined shipping is available for all items purchased as long as the destination address for each item is the same. If you want to purchase multiple items, you can either add them to your basket then click on the  i  symbol in the circle next to request total at the top right of the basket screen in browser (does not work in the app) & I will issue an ebay invoice with a revised shipping cost; or you can just check out normally & I will manually process a refund for the difference in shipping. It is simpler if you place a single order with multiple items in your cart rather than multiple separate orders, however, both are acceptable.

 

Note: If you are an EU buyer and check out separately for more than one item, and want combined shipping, it can be problematic for your customs as they are expected multiple parcels each with a separate VAT payment on them, rather than one parcel with multiple VAT payments and ebay order numbers associated with it. It may be rejected, even when I do my best to complete the CN22 correctly. In such instances I would either ship the items separately or offer to cancel all the orders and allow you to buy the same items again but in a single order, which I can then ship in one parcel.
