Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts! Check out this fine example of a unit logo patch for the First Battalion, First Marines. These can't be found just anywhere! Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.
This patch represents my Dad's former unit – The First of the First! 1st Bn, 1st Marines has a long, distinguished list of battle honors, including WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. They also served in Desert Storm as part of Task Force Papa Bear of the 1st MarDiv (reinforced.) Unit is based at Camp Pendleton, CA.
Recent Decades: Of course, 1/1 was on the ground fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom! Earlier, they were one of the first units on the ground (as part of 15th MEU) in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom when forward base “Camp Rhino” was established near Kandahar in late 2001. Slogan on this patch: "Ready to Fight!"
This is a BRAND NEW and UNUSED patch. It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item! Embroidered on white twill with merrowed edge and plastic heat-sealed backing (as shown in 2nd photo.) Colors are clean and bright. See ruler in photo for size comparison.
