Eden Valley Petrified Wood from Wyoming is a rare and highly prized fossil wood, known for its unique formation and striking colors. The fossilization process involved shallow, algae-rich lakes where live trees became coated with algae, creating molds around the wood. As the wood dried and shrank within these natural casts, silica-rich waters gradually permeated the layers, petrifying the wood and filling the spaces with agate, quartz, and calcite, resulting in vivid coloration and exceptional preservation.
