An artistic music box made in Switzerland), dating from the end of the 19th century.
This impressive music box consists of a metal mechanism in a wooden box with a hinged lid. Under this wooden hinged lid is a second glass hinged lid that keeps the mechanism closed while you can still admire it. The mechanism must be wound using a removable crank.

In the middle of the mechanism we find the following numerical indication: 112346.
On the right side we find a metal plate with the following inscription: JAGOT'S SEPT. PATENTED SAFETY CHECK. 22 1886. On the left we find a metal plate with the first Mermod Frères logo, secondly a rotary knob with seven positions and the inscription "CHANGE AT WILL", and thirdly a switch with the positions "CHANGE" and "REPEAT"; However, the exact operation of this mechanism is unknown to us.
The mechanism is damaged by time: the playing comb is missing teeth, and the music played is slightly out of tune.
Nevertheless, this music box has always retained its magnificent appearance. Please contact me before purchasing to discuss shipping details.
