The top is pretty decent - it's glossy, but does have a few small indents and some light clear coat pick marks and a small ding on the edge.
The back is very clean - with a faint indent or two and some micro scratches.
The frets are excellent with no significant playwear.

This guitar is a 1996 Gibson Les Paul Special from the mid-’90s “Pre-Historic” era.
During this transitional period, Gibson commonly used Les Paul Junior necks and headstock overlays on some Special reissues.
This was factory-original and historically accurate, as Juniors and Specials shared necks and headstock logos in the 1950s.
The model distinction has always been the pickup configuration (two P-90s = Special), not the headstock text.
This is a known and documented Gibson quirk from 1995–1997 and not a modification or replacement.
Completely original, correct for the era, and accepted by collectors as a legit factory variation.
