About the Artist:
James Fenwick Lansdowne (1937–2008) was a Canadian wildlife painter known for his realistic, softly detailed watercolor bird portraits. Like Audubon, he worked from preserved specimens, but his style is gentler and more naturalistic. Lansdowne's creative process involved observation from life and from preserved specimens, allowing him to depict birds in lifelike poses with a spark of personality and a sense of habitat.
Perfect for collectors of bird art, vintage natural history prints, or North American ornithology. These illustrations also make excellent gifts and frame beautifully for display in a home, office, library, or cabin.
