Indians won 8-5.  Wayne Garland got the win.  Mike Paxton got his first and only MLB save.  Andre Thornton had a two run HR and scored two runs.  Willie Horton had a single, a double, an RBI and a run scored.  Buddy Bell had a double and two RBIs.  Ron Pruitt had an HR.  Paul Dade had an HR and a single.

For KC, Dennis Leonard took the loss.  Hal McRae had a two run HR.  Freddie Pateck had an HR, a double, three RBIs, and a run scored.  George Brett (HOF) had a hit.
