This model works just fine and comes from a non-smoking home.

I couldn't find the cables to include but I figure everyone has these laying around.

The face of the unit is kind of sticky. I think this happens with certain plastics as they age. I've removed this before using alcohol. But in practice you probably won't be looking at the base or using it.
