This extraordinary antique rosary is a sacred devotional heirloom, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

It was brought to the U.S. by the seller’s grandmother, who immigrated around 1928. Likely crafted in France and later passed through Italy, this piece carries deep spiritual and cultural significance.

The carved cross is a traditional mourning cross, often placed with the deceased or used in funeral rites during the 19th century, adding to its devotional and historic importance.

Hand-carved from rich rosewood, the rosary features detailed rose beads symbolizing Marian devotion, a beautifully aged crucifix with an applied metal corpus, and a heart-shaped connector inscribed in French:

"Cœur Immaculé de Marie, protégez-nous"
(Immaculate Heart of Mary, protect us)

On the reverse:
"Souvenir de N.D. de Lourdes"

(Our Lady of Lourdes) — a testament to its origin near one of France’s most important pilgrimage sites.
